Scene: A cat and a mat.
Question: How many ways can you describe a cat sitting on a mat?

Possible descriptions include:
o A cat sat on a mat.
o On a mat a cat sat.
o A cat, on a mat, sat.
o There is the mat upon which the cat sat.
o The cat’s bottom pressed down upon the mat.
o Slinking onto the mat, the cat sat.
o One outstretched feline paw landed on the mat. The cat took another step: two paws were now on the mat. Another step forward, another paw and then another step: all four paws were now on the mat. The cat then stretched and yawned before lowering its bottom onto the mat.

So, how many ways can you describe a cat sitting on a mat? My guess is that the total number is limited only by one’s imagination.

Until next time, Jo
